“British-built in a Berlin Basement”: it sums up the four-piece band whose passion for Berlin burns bright despite musical roots nearer London, and whose music brings the European continent and United Kingdom a little bit closer together.

The band formed in 2003 and includes two German-English brothers, an exile-Brit and a singer from Denmark who all fell in love with Berlin and made it their home.

After a break and tours in and outside of Germany, Dawnrise now find themselves writing songs about what they’ve done and what they know: the spaces between cities, countries, people; and love, such as it is - at once the most normal and most incredible thing we’ve got.

Crackling beats dance around tender melodies, and whether they come as indie thrashes or touching micro-symphonies, the songs strike a balance. They rock you into a good mood however the day’s been, but do so with a depth that leaves you wondering what you just heard. They’re songs that stick in your head. And as the band themselves say: what else is music for?

„British-built in a Berlin Basement“: so lautet der Slogan der vierköpfigen Band, deren Vorliebe für Berlin trotz ihrer Londoner Wurzeln unüberhörbar bleibt. Die Musik schreit nach Hauptstadt – europäisches Festland und britisches Königreich werden eins.

Die Band gründete sich im Jahr 2003 und besteht aus zwei deutsch-englischen Brüdern, einem Exil Briten und einem aus Dänemark stammenden Sänger, die sich in die Stadt verliebten und Berlin zu ihrer Heimat machten.

Eine kurze kreative Pause, Tourneen im In-und Ausland und ein paar Monate später komponieren Dawnrise über ihre Wurzelen, die Grenzen zwischen Berlin und London und die normalste oder auch unnormalste Sache der Welt – die Liebe!

Knallende Beats treffen auf Melodien, eckiger Indie-Thrash oder berührende Mikro-Symphonien schaffen eine Balance zwischen dem nötigen Tiefgang und positiver Stimmung! Songs, die dir nicht aus dem Kopf gehen! Wie die Band selbst sagt: what else is music for? .. .. .. .. ..
