Following their ultimate and extremely successful coup, THE BLACK PATH, which arrived at the stores in early 2008, Munich's EMIL BULLS are ready to continue on their chosen path with their latest album, PHOENIX. .. .. With more than 200 performances in 2008, among them the prestigious Rock am Ring festival, a tour alongside the SYSTEM OF A DOWN project, SCARS ON BROADWAY, a top 60 chart position for THE BLACK PATH and any number of delighted fans, the band found themselves surfing on a wave of success through their native country and beyond. Their reputation as an unusually intense live act spilled to Scandinavia, Slovenia and France, where the Bulls left exhausted but happy fans in their wake. .. .. Now their latest album PHOENIX is due out on 25 September 2009, and its recording cost the band a considerable amount of blood, sweat and tears, what with guitarist Chrissy Schneider announcing his departure at the end of 2008 in order to devote more time to his private interests. However, Christoph, Moik, Fab and James reacted only with mild shock – and soon decided to pull out all the stops. They enlisted Andy Bock from their mates, FROM CONSTANT VISIONS, and set about writing songs with fresh enthusiasm. As they had done with THE BLACK PATH, the band ensconced themselves in an Alpine hut in the Allgäu mountains and spent three weeks collecting ideas – operating on the premise of even outclassing their previous album. .. .. Their energy and creativity skyrocketed, and they embarked on their journey to Münster, where the PHOENIX recordings began at the legendary Principal Studios, with 20 new songs. The support of producer Benny Richter (Caliban, Krypteria) was enlisted again, and together with engineer Toni Meloni (The Sorrow, Die Toten Hosen, among others) and the band, he set about shaping their latest ideas. The full album was recorded in a mere two weeks and placed in the trusted hands of mix engineer Klaus Scheuermann, who had also been responsible for the mix of THE SOUTHERN COMFORT. Without exaggeration and self-adulation, the result is the most confident album in the history of EMIL BULLS. .. .. They set themselves no limits, there were no discussions about the justification of a ballad such as "I DON'T BELONG HERE" or super-tough numbers such as "HERE COMES THE FIRE". And why should there have been? Looking back at their long and successful career, EMIL BULLS have certainly found their own style and can do whatever they please, as long as people love music as much as they do. At the end of the day, their numbers still sound unmistakably like EMIL BULLS. Their songs have to be emotional, touching and intense – a mechanical, rational approach would be unthinkable. .. .. Nach dem ultimativen und erfolgreichen Befreiungsschlag THE BLACK PATH Anfang 2008, stehen die EMIL BULLS aus München mit ihrem neuen Album PHOENIX vor der konsequenten Fortsetzung des eingeschlagenen Weges. .. .. Mit über 200 gespielten Shows 2008, darunter Rock am Ring, einer Tour zusammen mit dem SYSTEM OF A DOWN-Projekt SCARS ON BROADWAY, einer Top 60 Chartplatzierung von THE BLACK PATH und einer Menge glücklicher Fans ritt die Band auf einer Erfolgswelle durch das ganze Land und darüber hinaus. Der Ruf der außergewöhnlich intensiven Live-Band wurde auch in Skandinavien, Slowenien und Frankreich wahrgenommen, und auch dort hinterließen die Bulls durchgerockte aber glückliche Menschen. .. .. Nun steht am 25. September 2009 das neue Album PHOENIX vor der Veröffentlichung und es kostete die Band einiges an Blut, Schweiß und Tränen. Ende 2008 verkündete Gitarrist Chrissy Schneider seinen Ausstieg, um sich mehr seinen privaten Interessen widmen zu können. Davon ließen sich Christoph, Moik, Fab und James aber nur bedingt schocken – schon nach kurzer Zeit entschied man sich einstimmig, jetzt erst recht Gas zu geben. Man holte Andy Bock von der befreundeten Band FROM CONSTANT VISIONS und begann mit neuem Elan Songs zu schreiben. Wie schon bei THEBLACK PATH, zog sich die Band in eine Berghütte im Allgäu zurück und sammelte drei Wochen lang Ideen – immer mit der Prämisse im Hinterkopf, das letzte Album übertreffen zu wollen. .. .. Der Energie- und Kreativlevel stieg während dieser Zeit ins unermessliche und man trat mit 20 neuen Songs die Reise nach Münster an, wo im legendären Principal Studios die Aufnahmen zu PHOENIX begannen. Man holte wiederum Produzent Benny Richter (Caliban, Krypteria) an Board, welcher zusammen mit Engineer Toni Meloni (u.a. The Sorrow, Die Toten Hosen) und der Band die Songideen in Form brachte. Das komplette Album war innerhalb von zwei (!) Wochen eingespielt und soweit fertig, um in die Hände des Mix-Engineers Klaus Scheuermann, der bereits THE SOUTHERN COMFORT mischte, zu kommen. Das Resultat – ohne Übertreibung und Selbstbeweihräucherung - das selbstbewussteste Album in der Geschichte der EMIL BULLS. .. .. Man setzte sich keine Limits, es gab keine Diskussion um die Berechtigung einer Klavier-Ballade wie „I DON'T BELONG HERE" oder Schädelspalter wie „HERE COMES THE FIRE". Warum auch? Nach so langer, erfolgreicher Arbeit, können die EMIL BULLS ihren eigenen Stil immer weiter aufbrechen, Grenzübertritte wagen und eben alles machen, solange die Musik lebt, was sie sind. Am Ende klingt es trotzdem nach den unverkennbaren Markenzeichen der Band: Emotional, berührend und intensiv müssen die Songs sein – mechanisch rationales Vorgehen wäre undenkbar. .. .. Hört hinein und urteilt selbst – PHOENIX wird euch packen, schütteln und komplett einvernehmen, wenn ihr es zulasst, soviel ist sicher. .. ...... ...... COMING SOON!...... .. .. ...... ..
