The European Songbook is a songwriting project between the ..Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts.., ..Music Academy International.., ..Jazz & Rock Schulen Freiburg.. and the ..Helsinki Pop & Jazz Conservatory... Several students from each school, representing five different nationalities, were chosen to write and perform songs on racism and xenophobia. They first met in Liverpool, England in October of 2008 to begin the songwriting process and first performed in Nancy, France in November. During the spring of 2009 they will perform in Freiburg, Germany (24.1) and in Helsinki, Finland (6.3). A studio recording of the songs should be available in late spring! The project is funded by the EU through the Comenius program.
